Slow Mail Gifts

I was so lucky to receive some wonderful slow mail this week.
this week from my sister, Mel (onecraftymumma.typepad.com). New Zealand shopping on her recent holiday , Mel bought me this fabulous beauty mud mask, so beautifully packaged and can't wait to try. The other gift was a delightful white "lucky" elephant which has joined my elephant collection.

I've had a little spell from blogging, well maybe a long spell when I look back on my last posting! Hoping to blog at least once a week from now on. Today, I visited our little food and growers market in my home town, bought a few goodies to try, apple jelly, ground organic turmeric, pickled radishes and fresh blueberries. ( Huon Food Producers Network). And then moved up the street a few metres to MakersonChurchst, where there is an amazing array of art and craft, including haberdashery supplies. Must say the yellow cotton yarn is a favourite, hopefully a photo soon of what I have produced with it.

Holidays are Great and Eumundi Market

Last day of my holidays, wow three weeks has gone quickly --  Gold Coast, Noosa, Broadbeach for 10 days, the weather was fantastic.  Our ASX Mitsubishi car, let us drive to places we hadn't been before, Byron Bay, Mt Tambourine, Sanctuary Cove, Noosa, Montville, Maleny, Caboolture...We hadn't been to Noosa before, nice place and stayed at the Outrigger which is a little out of the town, but very quiet and relaxing there, even swam in the pool.  A nice surprise on our return to Broadbeach, my mum and stepdad were waiting there for us, staying at the same place as us.  Must say though Broadbeach is always our favourite area to stay, the Talisman, right near the beach, short walk to the Oasis Shopping Centre, could sit for hours watching the activities on the beach and the sea.  Good whale spotting! 

A favourite was visiting the market at Eumundi --  for those who love markets, the hype, the fabulous wares and craft, its always exciting to explore.   So for this post I've included some great photos of the market, some of my favourite stalls.

 
 
 
 
 

Driving to Work - Beautiful Southern Tasmania

We take a lot for granted in the place we live, often our minds think of all sorts of things while we are driving to and from work, ... over the last few weeks I've tried to keep my mind thought free and concentrate on the beautiful scenery, with clear frosty mornings and snow capping the mountains, ...its all about the beautiful place in which we live and the views that many people would be envious of..

Wild Weather in Southern Tasmania

A super cold weekend in southern Tasmania.  Yesterday morning dh who is a construction coordinator with Council, decided we should leave very early and head down to Southport, an hour away to check out the sea damage.  Very wild weather the night before saw the seas rise over the road and most of the shacks on the foreshore or across from the beach would have had some water entering them.  And yes thats snow on the ground!  It snowed and hailed while we were there....... and dh work crew radio'd through after we left to say there was an inch of snow on the beach... wow unheard of conditions prevail.

Sewing a simple quilt

A while since I tackled a quilt.. eek.. so I started with this simple to do quilt for Kama, its small to cover her legs while watching television of a night, certainly some cold nights about at the moment in Tassie.  The fabric squares are pre-cut from Moda, purchased a few years ago on the East Coast at a cute little shop in Triabunna.  A great way for someone to get back into sewing, or beginners sewing.  I have 2 more packs to make up, stay tuned.  I also made some into a couple of cushion covers a year or so ago, they were also easy to sew up.

 
 

Knitting Dishcloths

These were also a gift for a friend.. thanks mum who knitted the 2 cream ones.  I struggled through the beige one, I'm not much of a knitter, finally after picking it up on a few nights over 4 weeks, managed to finish it.  The yarn is cotton from Bendigo Woollen Mills..lovely to work with and a huge ball.
