Our little jinxed Olympus camera had another little disappearing act in Queensland.. some may remember the first story, lost for six months and replaced by the Canon camera.. found after six months under dh's work vehicle back seat!  Lost at Dreamworld in Queensland : ( I was not very popular..  but with all the people visiting there the day we were there someone was very honest and handed it into lost property... and the great staff there posted it home to us in Tassie..  now I am having trouble with the Canon - the lens stuck on while on holiday, under warranty, it seems the retailer who sold it to me has a long process to send to repair, return, etc.   (aggh)

 

Tomorrow... Queensland... This & This....

  Lets hope for some relaxation like this(lol if only I had that body!!)    .. and lovely beaches.. : )

The Past Fortnight

Well its been a busy time -- I am winding down my business, Shoes A Must -- its been an interesting two and half years working in shoes - I've met some really nice customers and sellers and built up a great rapport with them..however I don't regret closing the business.  I love working with people and enjoy being mentally active, otherwise I find boredom sets in!  LOL thats probably why I have so many crafts started and not finished... Wednesday is my final day and then after a short break I will continue the job hunting..

I found time during the last week to visit a couple of popular Huon Valley tourism destinations.  I have applied for a job at one of them, so we will see how it pans out!  Hastings Caves & Thermal Pool and Tahune Airwalk

'Michael,' she whispered, raising her hand in greeting, but even as she did she could see Emily's father drawing down the bedroom shade. 

On Wednesday Bainbridge High School staged a memorial for Emily Gold.

Her artwork-a legacy-dotted the auditorium.  Her school picture from the previous fall had been blown up to an almost obscene size and hung from the rear curtain on the auditorium stage, a trick of the light making her gaze spookily follow students in the audience when they shifted seats or got up to go to the bathroom.  On bridge chairs in front of the picture were the principal and assistant principal, the senior guidance counselor and a Dr. Pinneo, an expert on teenage depression.

Whoops got a bit carried away and did five sentences!  lol  -- just wanted to make everyone want to read the book.

Happy Easter

HAPPY EASTER.. As usual the Easter holiday has gone quickly. 

On Good Friday, Georgia arrived down early and we set to doing a few Easter craft things.  We made these lovely cotton Easter eggs.. they appeared in the Better Homes and Gardens Book this month, on the children's page.  I think ideally the age group to make them would be 8 - 10 years, a little difficult for a 5 year old to master winding the cottons tightly.  We didn't have any fabric stiffener, so I mixed up a bowl of sugar and water... mm its messy sticky stuff, but worked fairly well.  I still haven't decided on which "new" camera to buy, so persevered with the old one, but only managed to get some photos of the eggs with the balloons still inside the wound cotton.. eventually when the the cotton dries, you pop the balloon and extract through the holes - but the general idea is photographed.  Georgia enjoyed painting and decorating some egg shaped cards that I cut out for her. Sorry, no photos - but I think a good craft idea for 5 year olds, rather than something more involved.

Here are my 8 random facts!

1.  I was a prefect in year 10.  It was the first year that the students chose prefects, rather than the teachers. I received the second highest vote.  We were distinguished wearing a red blazer and name badge with prefect written on it.

2.  In my teenage years I owned a 14.2 hh horse and used to go to Pony Club each week, I also rode in the Huon Show.

3.  I sewed most of my own clothes until after my children were born, including my own Wedding Dress with the help of my mum.

4.  I enjoy reading, providing a book holds my interest I am not fussy as to what I read.  And buying books is a must I think its called compulsive book buying!

5.  I have always been interested in craftwork and recently re-focused on small projects.  I love scrapbooking (although Mel says I am a hoarder, not a doer!), sewing by machine or hand, simple crocheting - my current project being a woollen afghan rug).  Softies inspired by my lovely sister, Melissa www.melissagoodsell.typepad.com Card making and trying out new crafts.  And of course buying up bits and pieces that may be useful for crafting.

6.  I have five gorgeous grandchildren, Jacob, Georgia, Izzy, Oscar and Bonnie.

7.  I enjoy cooking when I have time.  I'd rather home cooking and make goodies rather than buy them.  I especially enjoy Christmas cooking.

8.  I never completed year 11 and 12, so in 2001 (?) I enrolled in two subjects and completed them at home, gaining a SA in Writers Workshop and OA in Tourism Studies.  Then 3 years ago I commenced some part-time study at TAFE in Advanced Diploma of Business Management.

Sunday Gone!

Todays been spent cleaning up the house - probably should have taken some photos as it may not be as spick and span again for quite a while! And roast lamb cooking for tea.

I spent most of the afternoon making and re-making Izzy's quilt for her cradle!  Had one of those bad sewing days where nothing went right!  One really has to be in the mood to sew, rather than make a chore of it!  Salvage operation in progress we'll see how it goes!

Check out this gorgeous little outfit that my daughter's mother-in-law knitted up for me for little Hayden, who is now weighs 1358 kg.  Hopefully Hayden will be back in Tassie this week along with his mum, Karen and nan, Pam who has been keeping Karen and Hayden company in Melbourne.  His dad will be very happy to have his family back home I reckon.
